OPERATIONS & GROWTH • SUPPLY CHAIN
A reliable and responsive in-state supplier network is an essential component of Arizona's technology business development program.
The AzBusinessLINC.Com database includes capability information on more than 2,000 high-tech and other companies in Arizona. It has resulted in well over $60 million in new contracts. Local companies are encouraged to enter their profile at the website and use its database to locate needed products and services. There is no cost for local companies to participate in the AzBusinessLINC.Com program.
The statewide gap analysis entails surveying the largest buying entities in the public and private sectors to determine what products and services they are having difficulty finding in Arizona and why. It will also determine if there are any taxing or other policies that are unduly restricting company competitiveness in Arizona. Once the information is collected and analyzed, it will be shared with local businesses and economic development groups. This will permit them to add new products and services, form supplier collaborations and/or recruit needed new suppliers as appropriate. It will also be used in working with public policy makers to help remove barriers to competition.
Another local supplier development collaboration is the Arizona Manufacturing Network. It is an association of more than 50 Phoenix area companies who have united with the support of local consultants, government officials and educators to expand the market for Arizona manufacturers. More details may be found at the Arizona Manufacturing Network.
A Supplier Excellence Alliance based in California is also active in the southwest region. It is comprised of aerospace, defense and space companies working together to improve capabilities and ensure competitiveness.
